Minor quibbles about packaging aside, this is a revelation! The sound is incredibly good and commenserate with the quality of the performances. The level of sonic detail is just stunning, listen to Fish's drumming in Weekapaug for one of the best examples. Leaving the crowd eruptions in the tracks also satisfies as I was there, these were my second and third shows. I'll never forget the chaos and eruption of energy in the crowd during Antelope and to hear it brings it all back vividly. There are so many more examples of the care brought to the music of this box set. I worried the sound was only going to be moderately good (a tinkered with soundboard recording) that lacks the atmosphere of the audience tapes I have been listening to for 24+ years. My worries were unfounded. Packaging - B (not a fan of slip cases) but the overall conception and particularly the artwork is gorgeous and evocative. Liner notes - C- Surely there is a literate enough Phan who was there and has some grasp on where Phistory was at this point to have written something that is also evocative. A photo or two would not have hurt either. I know its the music that matters and this is A+ stuff here. Though sentimentally, I want the additions. Sound quality - A+ on either headphones or speakers. Phish's Performance - A+++ 7/17 is top 10 Phish. 7/16 is no slouch either and serves as a wonderful set up for the following nights mind melter. Now a trifecta for me, my first three shows have all been officially released (Live Phish Volume 17 covers the previous night to the Gorge in Portland, Oregon). 24 years is a long time. I'm so glad they got to these shows. All three NW dates from July 98 can now take their rightful place as among the finest musical moments of my life - and these discs have made me fall in love all over with Phish and grateful to have been in the right places at the right time. The best box set since The Grateful Dead released the multitrack Fillmore West '69 shows in a limited edition box set, a standard for attention to sonic detail and care for archival material.
