New Year’s Eve 1993 Live at Worcester Centrum was recorded live December 31, 1993, and the release includes 30 complete tracks, recorded + mixed from band’s original 2-inch 24-track reels. This 3-CD set is only available at Phish Dry Goods at this time. Housed in a deluxe lift-off box, with a “Cut Out” Phish Aquarium set. New Year's Eve 1993 Live At Worcester Centrum was recorded by Paul Languedoc to multitrack, mixed by Jon Altschiller, and mastered by Fred Kevorkian.
Phish's first show at Worcester Centrum, a 14,800-capacity hockey arena, was their fifth annual New Year’s Eve show, and was the band’s biggest headline gig to-date. Tickets cost $22.50 and the show was sold out. The stage set for the entire 4-show 1993 holiday tour was an aquarium, complete with seaweed, rocks, swimming fish and a giant clam built by Chris McGregor and J.W. Nickel of Rocket Science.

NYE Worchester is a supreme testimony of youthful Phish, full of confidence, energy and anticipation. Starts with a bang called Llama, continues with het highly melodic and narrative Guelah Papyrus, and never looks back. All the then greats come by, Stash, Reba, Antilope, Tweezer ... Here comes 1994, first we take Worchester and then we take the rest. I bought the CDbox, which aims for listening rather than recapturing the show vibes. That makes CD 1&2 a great auditive experience, while Phish Aquarium doesn't work for me, and from then on (CD3), happy New Year sets in and it's all about the fun and the exhilaration. Very glad I can add this one to my collection anyway.

Ahhh, I remember these days vividly (kinda). The Grateful Dead were on their way out due to Jerry Garcia’s drug addiction and there soon needed a void to be filled.
Hoist was soon to be released & more recognition was to follow, which is where this show lands in the Phish live cannon. A dream set list played with great energy, speed & precision. I’d say this box is a must for all. Get it & play it often and LOUD!
